Skubies Blog 2020

After 2 years of stasis due to illness, we returned last year and in terms of achievement, had one of our best years yet. With our new rugged all metal aircraft, which is far more suitable to African conditions, plus a newly built hangar area, where we can store it during the wet season, we now possess an ongoing surveillance capability.  Also, we have bedded in several alternative pilots, Ferdi and Richard (a trained flying instructor and also mechanic), plus Eddie, a Tanzanian national, giving us a year round operational capability, as opposed to merely a summer operation of 3 months at a time, which was all Anne & I were able to commit to.

Unfortunately though, this year is overshadowed with the Corona Virus pandemic.  We don't know how this is going to play out, it is just too soon to tell, but it seems unlikely that this will all be resolved by summer, especially as Africa appears to be around 2 months behind Europe in status with the infection. We hope that they are not as badly hit, and that we can continue with our work this year, but we are not optimistic.  For now, please see our blog from last year: Skubie's blog
